What goes wrong without this.

A manufacturing project in India requires approvals from a dozen or more separate authorities, and they are not independent of one another. Consent to establish precedes construction. Building plan approval depends on land use already being converted. Power sanction depends on load assessment that depends on final equipment selection. Consent to operate depends on the pollution control infrastructure being physically built and verified.

Applied for in the wrong order, the sequence deadlocks. Applied for late, they become the binding constraint on commissioning — a plant physically ready to run but legally unable to, with interest accruing on drawn-down term loans and no revenue.

The other failure is treating approval as a one-time event. Most industrial licences carry ongoing conditions, periodic returns and renewal cycles. Lapses surface during inspections, expansion applications or lender due diligence, often years later.

Common questions

How many approvals does a typical factory need?

For a straightforward manufacturing unit, generally twelve to eighteen distinct approvals across central, state and local authorities. Units handling hazardous processes, food products, pharmaceuticals or explosives require substantially more, and those sectors also carry heavier ongoing compliance.

How long does the full approval cycle take?

Six to fourteen months for a typical project, running in parallel with design and construction rather than sequentially. Environmental clearance where a full appraisal is required is usually the longest single item and should be started earliest.

Do you guarantee approvals?

No, and you should treat any such guarantee with suspicion. Approval rests with the statutory authority. What we can do is ensure applications are complete, correctly sequenced and properly represented, which is what determines whether the process runs to normal timelines or stalls.

Can you take over approvals that are already stuck?

Yes. We begin by identifying why — usually an incomplete application, an unaddressed query, a missing prerequisite approval, or a dependency that was applied for out of sequence. Each has a different remedy.

Do you handle ongoing compliance after commissioning?

Yes, on a retainer basis — periodic returns, renewals, amendment applications and inspection support. Many clients start with project approvals and continue on retainer, because the ongoing obligations are where lapses accumulate.
