FAQ

Common questions

Can you automate our existing machines, or only new ones?
Retrofit is a substantial part of what we do. Existing machinery can usually be instrumented, brought under PLC control and connected for data acquisition at a fraction of replacement cost. The constraint is generally the mechanical condition of the machine, not the control system.
Which PLC and SCADA platforms do you work with?
We work across the major platforms and select on the basis of your existing installed base, local service availability and spares access rather than a fixed vendor preference. Continuity with what your maintenance team already knows usually matters more than marginal feature differences.
Which ERP do you recommend?
It depends on your scale, process complexity, existing systems and internal IT capability. We run a structured selection rather than carrying a fixed recommendation, and for many mid-sized manufacturers a well-implemented mid-tier system delivers more than a partially implemented enterprise platform.
How long does an ERP implementation take?
For a single-site mid-sized manufacturer, typically six to nine months from selection to stable operation. Process definition beforehand adds one to two months and consistently reduces total elapsed time by more than it costs.
Do you provide ongoing IT support or only projects?
Both. Many clients begin with an assessment and remediation project and continue on managed support. Response commitments are defined against business impact, with production-affecting systems treated differently from office systems.
How do you handle plant network security?
The core measure is segmentation between office and control networks, with controlled and monitored traffic between them. Most industrial ransomware incidents that reach production do so through a flat network where a compromised office machine had a direct path to control systems.
